For Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken, their newest restaurant is more than just another California eatery.Named for Alice B. Toklas, the writer and partner of Gertrude Stein, and situated inside Palm Springs' first LGBTQ+ senior living community Living Out, Alice B. is an homage to the historic couple's love."They were such iconic women in [that] time," Milliken told The Messenger of the prominent couple in the early 1900's. "Living in Paris, bringing together all these artists, poets, painters and celebrating the creativity of a community; and creating those spaces that people could get together and do that always over great food.""They were activists, and I think Mary Sue and I, that's always been an important part of what we do," Feniger said. The eatery serves as a gathering place for Living Out residents as well as the public, being just a short walk from the main streets of Palm Springs.
