On December 13th, in celebration of our swimming pool finally being cured and heated, we held an Esther Williams Extravaganza. We began by watching the following film clip
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5HufDgwD4w to put ourselves in the appropriate campy frame-of-mind. Then, at our first event in the well-appointed art studio, we put our creative skills to work making individualized swimming caps in honor of the incomparable Esther. A good time was had by all as folks gathered materials from a large selection of artificial flowers, foam crowns, miniature beach chairs and umbrellas, plastic fish, sea shells, miniature swimmers, glittery flora, jewels, feathers, hundred dollar bills, and more to create swimming caps worthy of the event’s namesake. Our brave participants then modeled their creations, frightening any number of people in the lobby and kitchen, before arriving poolside to bless the pool and join in a tasty BBQ held in our Bocce court pavilion. It was a delightful day and an opportunity for us to have fun, see another side of one another, and deepen our community spirit. Thanks, Esther!
